In
Acadia-Karyik, we want to bring you the best quality furniture.
As wood is one of our centerpiece in our furniture, high quality
timber is always used. All our wooden products is made of 100%
solid hardwood. Unless stated, it will be either Japanese Ash
or Teak. Occasionally, Nyatoh is used for its warm redness. Other
variety of timber is available upon request.
Tamo/
Japanese Ash
Fraxinus
mandschurica Ruprecht, commonly known as Tamo or Japanese Ash,
is a more expensive and exotic hardwood. Although it features
straight grain most of the time, its moiré-like grain has
a striking, unique and beautiful pattern that resembles the sand
ripples on a wind-swept beach, known as "peanut shell".
It varies in colour from straw yellow to bright brown. Such timber
is a favourite of furniture designers who like to feature exotic
pattern. It is durable, strong, stiff, and has good shock resistance.
It is also uses to build boat.
We
only use 100% solid high quality Japanese Ash that comes from
government approved, sustainable forests or plantations in Heilongjiang
of Manchuria** (northeast China)*. It can also be found in Korea
and Japan.

We strive to obtain the timber from Heilongjiang, Manchuria. However,
due to its limited availability, we might sometime acquire it
from other area in Manchuria, or even from Korea and Japan. No
matter where the timber is from, we guarantee it will of high
quality and harvested from a government approved and sustainable
forest for plantation.

Teak
Commonly
know as Teak (Scientific Name: Tectona Grandis), it is probably
the most well known and highly valued timber and used for high
quality furniture. With the combined quality of durability and
beautiful appearance, it cannot be equalled by any other timber.
Teak is resilience to weathering, even when exposed to extremes
of both summer and winter weather over many years. This is why
it is the preferred choice for marine decking anad construction
for many centuries. Even today, it is still consider as the premium
choice for high quality outdoor furniture.
We
only use 100% solid high quality teak that is harvested from government
approved, sustainable forests or plantations in Yunnan of China
or Thailand. Natural grown teak can also be found in part of India,
southern China, Myanmar, Thailand. Purposely planted teak can
be found in other Southeast Asia countries such as Indonesia.
Teak from Myanmar is boycotted by some organization or individual
due to political and rainforest conservation issue, although it
is the biggest producer of teak.
